Our History
Sparked by a revival held in a private home in the Esserville community in 1950, Esserville church was launched by a handful of new believers. From that humble beginning, God’s church at Esserville has prospered and grown. The first meetings were held in private homes, and then moved into an abandoned church building in the coal camp community. Through perseverance and persistence, a new church building was constructed in the late 1950’s, and was bricked in 1962. A Fellowship Hall and class rooms were built in the 1970’s, with an extension to the Fellowship Hall constructed in 1987. Since that time, the church has experienced explosive growth and the new sanctuary was completed in 1996, where services are held today.
As we continue to move forward, we have adopted building plans for a Family Life Center and Multipurpose Facility, which will house the Pastor’s office, full court gymnasium, walking track, additional classroom space, a casual coffee café, and full stage area. As we strive to minister to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the people in our area, the new building will allow us to be more complete in fulfilling our mission and vision.
Excitement is in the air at Esserville Church and we hope you'll join us this weekend during our worship services or for one of opportunities for growth during the week. You'll feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as we worship together through prayer, fellowship, music, and an anointed message from God’s Word. We are conveniently located in the heart of Wise County on Esserville Road just off the intersection of US 23 between Wise and Norton at the Norton Commons Shopping Center Intersection. We look forward to seeing you soon!
